UPRS did exactly what they stated they would do and from my perspective the fee they charged us was well worth it depending on how one values one’s own time and how one feels about dealing with people who I believe don’t care about you. A few years ago I became aware that a corporation I once owned and had closed down had a large sum of unclaimed funds sitting in Connecticut’s unclaimed fund. So I decide to claim it. The amount of my time involved with dealing with the state bureaucracy ‘s forms and its people was absolutely unbelievable. And it took almost four years from the time I filled out the first form to get the funds they were holding. Plus they only returned the funds to me after I finally got hold of CT’s #2 person in its Department of Revenue Services and told him I would meet him in court if they didn’t return the funds to me. So when UPRS notified me that they spotted a bit over 10k of our money that somehow became unclaimed, I jumped on letting them deal with the state and its bureaucracy. We filled out only one form that gave them the legal right to represent us dealing with the state and they handled everything else. Plus we received what we somehow had left behind less the fee we paid them for dealing with the bureaucracy in a little over a year. To me they are well worth their fee. Why? They do this abandoned funds processing for a living and they do it very well because they now have the relevant experience dealing many times with the bureaucracy and its people that have confiscated your money and in my opinion really does not want to give it back to you. Plus the state doesn’t do what UPRS does which is let you know the state has your money and very likely your address but they never reach out to you. If you value your time and don’t enjoy dealing with bureaucrats who never follow up or contact you, I suggest you use UPRS’ services and pay them their fee. If they don’t get your money back, they get absolutely nothing for their efforts they invested in handling your claim. It’s a very good deal in my opinion. They are incentivized to get your money back and have done it many, many times. Let them deal with the people who hold your money and could care less about giving it back to you in my opinion.

UPRS reached out to me on numerous occasions, I finally responded, they told me I had unclaimed funds and after several months and additional followup calls, I finally cooperated. I was shocked when a few weeks later, I received a check of over 4500.00 minus their nominal fee.
