I took my taxes here for 2019. I have a portion of my income that does not have any documentation except on my bank statement. I clearly told him this was income and showed him where it had been noted on my prior year's tax form. He not only did not add it as income but subtracted it. My current CPA discovered it (thankfully). I now had to pay taxes on the original amount, taxes on the added amount, plus fees and penalties! I also had to pay my CPA to refile an Amended 2019 Tax Form.
To add insult to all of it, he told me not to bother with quarterlies. I owe over $6,300.00 in taxes I would have paid in quarterlies spread out over the past year rather than one lump sum now. My part in all this is being naive in trusting this guy and signing the form without thoroughly examining the form. But then, I use a tax preparer for their expertise that I do not have.
