My wife and I have been part of the Nelson Financial Planning family for over six years and are extremely elated with their services. Our first encounter with Joel Garris and Nelson Financial Planning came when we needed to find a service that would provide better asset growth and strategic planning than we were getting from our previous financial services company. We felt that our previous advisor invested in companies he liked more than ones we wanted, and the growth of our assets was lethargic. My wife said we should look for another service and I had been hearing a radio ad for a free evaluation from Nelson Financial Planning so we made an appointment, sat down with Joel, and within ten minutes I knew he was the right person for us. We spent the first five minutes just introducing ourselves, then Joel took out a blank piece of paper and a pen, then asked us where we wanted to be and what we wanted to be able to do at the end of the next ten years. We spent the next hour or so with Joel identifying our financial goals based on our life goals and identified a strategy to make it happen. Because of my experience as a Systems Engineering Manager this process really resonated with me. Joel explained how the staff use high integrity mutual fund products to provide a balance of growth and income within an acceptable level of risk. I realized this plan would give us long term growth, investment in quality products, reinvestment growth, and diversity to mitigate risk. We meet with Joel regularly several times a year to review our plan's performance and through experience rely on Joel for the knowledge and wisdom to guide us through any adjustments to optimize the mix in our portfolio. We have realized great improvement in the growth of our retirement assets and are extremely pleased with the results. Before Nelson six years ago, we had concern we were falling behind in growing financial security for our retirement. Six years later we have certainty that we can achieve the life goals to travel and live financially secure into the future.
On a personal basis, Joel and the entire staff at Nelson Financial Planning Services show the highest consideration and respect for all their clients. This is never more evident than seeing the entire staff interact with clients at any of the several diner or breakfast events throughout the year. I am impressed that Joel and his staff make sure to greet everyone attending these events to field and answer concerns the clients may have.
When we can, we listen to Joel's radio show (started many years ago by his late father-in-law Jack Nelson) and when we can't, the pod-casts are great to hear what's really important about the "muses of the day" from the financial experts.
