Absolutely AWFUL. There was constant fights on both girls and boys side. I was there from April to june of 2024. There was a lot of relationships that happened. NGL, I participated too. "dated" 2 there, which 1 I'm still in contact with. I got in a lot of fights. There was a kid who was affiliated. At mountain view, on the boys side, the techs except for one didn't care what was happening. Even if they saw a fight happening, they didn't intervene till blood was drawn. Even then, he wouldn't do anything. At mountain view, I was in fights, and I even tried to stop fights. The fights I got into were very short lived as I know self-defense, Non-lethal, and the other type. I didn't learn anything there. The therapist I had told my parents the only way I could receive treatment was if I was put in the states hand. 1 year later, no treatment has been received. I'm almost 18, and I spent my birthday in mountain view. in fact, I've spent the last three birthdays in hospitals due to them lacking to help me, and not setting up after care like they are supposed to when I am released from the hospital. I don't have any of the feelings I have that I had then, but im in foster care and have weekly visitation on saturday with my family. I'll age out at 19, and there seems to be no plan for anything. I'm working, have a ged, and trying to obtain business licences for a couple businesses I have planned. In all, I do not recommend going to mountain view if you can help it. It'll destroy you. trust me. It happened to me personally

Went their when I was 13 and they had me in a room with a devil worshiper they moved me to some normal girls and we had fun even the night shift nurse would come in and talk and cut up with us... the day shift nurses was awful. All they did was get on to you for the dumbest things.... my overall stay was okay.. didn't change me none tho... oh, and if they tell you you can wear your jewelry, trust me, you can't . They will steal it and claim it was lost! I wouldn't send my dog to this place! I still hold a grudge even after 25 years...

Me and and my twin went here when we were 7 and 11. I have terrible reoccurring nightmares about experiences we had here. Terrible terrible place with evil staff that would even deny kids food often. What a joke of a hospital

Someone said they'd push me down the stairs cuz I told them they shouldn't bully a wheelchair user. When I told staff, she said "I didn't hear it. We don't do 'he said she said.'"

I have been to hospitals in Birmingham in Huntsville and I called us the name brand Hospital. Every one of them wanted to over-medicate me which made me very over sedated to the point where I couldn't function. Someone recommended Mountain View and I went there and it's been 20 years now and I'm stable. That place has saved my life. So for anybody that puts a negative review for Mountain View there must be a personal issue because I can't see that happening. The staff is great. I've seen one specific doctor for the past 15 years and he's the most empathetic doctor that I've ever met in my life. He cares about what's going on he doesn't overmedicate. And he is so patient and he listens and he really cares and you don't find doctors like that anymore and the psychiatric category anyway. Most doctors want to overmedicate to the person just doesn't feel anything anymore. They don't want to diagnose certain disorders because they don't want to deal with them all you have to do is research. If you go in not liking the place you're not going to like it. That goes for any facility. But it's a really good place. I know this to be true. I would say try some of the most popular for hospitals in Birmingham and in Huntsville or wherever and then come back and do a review.

I’ve been here twice. One time my roommate on the adolescent floor had a seizure and accidentally peed on herself, they made her sit in her own Urine for almost 2 hours before getting her a shower! Next time she had a seizure, i tried to tell the techs what was happening and i got yelled at and told to shut up. (they had no idea she had seizures and they were just sitting there).
The techs/staff are awful to their patients and when we express why we had an issue or what was wrong, we’d get told to just be quiet and if we didn’t they’d call a code yellow, have us restrained and give us shots to sedate us. Many other things happened both times while i was there. Absolutely terrible place, DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE. place is also known to be haunted which doesn’t help the case, had a couple things happen to confirm this place is as well. Miss teresa also was awful to us and she got in my face once, i was going to get my hygiene box after she told us to when we got done eating breakfast and when i did so, she got in my face and she made me go back to the lounge to sit down, she allowed the other girls to get their box and made me wait. another time, when we don’t want our breakfast tray, we are allowed to get two cereals, she knew this. i asked to get the cereal instead and she told me either i get the tray or nothing at all. i asked why and she said “fine you can do without” and threw it away, she also proceeded to tell me that if i didn’t need breakfast then i didn’t need snack either and didn’t give me snack. I had to go until lunch without food (i also took meds at this time and your not suppose them on an empty stomach. i felt sick to my stomach all morning) She also stated that she was only there for a paycheck multiple times.
i understand that most of the techs are, BUT if you work at a place like this, the least you can do is PRETEND to care about your patients but she made us feel awful and made us feel like we were a problem and not important.
She also refused to unlock my bathroom and get me a pad because she was busy doing some kind of paperwork and due to this, i needed a shower because of the mess that was made (VERY unsanitary situation) and she also refused to let me shower. Luckily i discharged later that day and was able to get a shower when i got home.
The only tech that actually took the time to make us laugh and talk to us was Mr Scott. He was constantly trying to make me laugh and was very kind and every one of the patients on the adolescent girls unit, loved/loves him.
but again overall, the techs are awful and all they do is make it worse and make you miserable. please don’t send your kids here.

I went here for inpatient twice and outpatient therapy for a few years. It's what you make it... but there definitely needs to be more observation. People were constantly trading pills to get high. They also need more therapists so there's more one on one time. Most of the nurses were great. You could tell when they were overwhelmed & tired though. Mrs B was the best one in there. She was like the wards momma. Also, the place is crazy haunted. The fenced in back yard has a lot of activity at night. I hope this place opens back up to adults bc it's severely needed in this area. Just needs some improvements.

Terrible place! Needs to be shut down! My 16 yr old has been twice. Very violent place. She was discharged after a day because a riot broke out an a young girl was jumped by about 15 other people. The girl was badly injured and nurses were injured, yet they try to keep it all a secret. Don't let your child go here please, and if they are there get them out! There not lying when they tell you how bad it is. Please somebody help get this place shutdown!
