As a wealth management advisor, Mr. Mahoney’s aim should be to effectively understand his clients needs, not simply evaluate risk profiles, and help his clients meet their investment goals.

To excel in today’s global financial landscape, it is important to remain neutral when wealth management is used for very personal reasons.

As the spouse of Mr. Mahoney’s 30+ year client, I was advised “Well, to be honest, Ann $50,000 is a lot of money in three months.” when I was in need of intensive therapy for complex post traumatic stress disorder related to various unfortunate life experiences and circumstances, after being repeatedly denied inpatient treatment by my spouse.

Outpatient treatment saved my life.

HEALTH is all the WEALTH I need.

Mr. Mahoney’s statement could have had a deleterious effect on my life and those of my loved ones; it was a carelessly reckless statement for an experienced wealth manager.

Mr. Mahoney caused further trauma with this statement.

My best advice: I believe ‘staying in his lane’ with advising and not ‘deciding’ how much money is spent is the ‘best practice’ recommendation to Mr. Mahoney for future clients and all interactions, so there are no further ‘crashes on the financial highway.’
