Avoid JP Morgan Wealth Management for opening a new account. They require you to send a copy of your S.S. card and drivers license as part of their AML/CIP review. AML/CIP is required to ascertain a persons identity under government regulations. The regulations DO NOT require a copy of your S.S. card or drivers license be held and kept on file at the banking institution opening your account. It does require the documents be reviewed by the institution and can be done in person. As a person very concerned about how my personal identity documents are handled find it hard to believe that an institution the size of JP Morgan would not allow the documents to be reviewed in a branch office to satisfy AML/CIP requirements. I do not want to expose myself to identity theft because copies of these documents are hacked from their servers. I inquired with JP Morgans new accounts team for an alternative and they went radio silent on me. So be it, one less wealth management client for their brokerage. Just wanted to pass along my thoughts so others can consider the implications of the banks decision to not offer alternatives to security conscious clients.

Please avoid JP Morgan. I have placed 22 phone calls over the past 9 weeks and have gotten no where.

I have a share in my JP Morgan account and want to sell it. Everyone has been extremely nice. Their internal systems must be so bad that no one that works for JP Morgan can understand it or their training department does not exist or is really bad.
