Before working with Jo, I was often told that I was not a strategic leader. People saw me as a tactical team member, and somebody who could get things done, but not someone that they saw necessarily as a senior executive. I know that I'm capable of so much more, and I didn't know how to break out of the patterns that I was creating, that conveyed those impressions. She was able to help me understand and break down some of the habitual behaviors and ways of thinking that were detrimental to me or holding me back leadership-wise. She was able to help me analyze them, and then reframe and behave differently, since I had a consciousness and awareness of those behaviors. I was able to take stressful work situations, look at them more objectively, and look for the opportunity to grow as a leader and be a more empathetic leader, not only for other people, but also for myself. By the time we finished working together, I felt a shift in the way that other people were regarding me as a voice in the room. I also thought about myself and my capabilities differently.
