A Truly Exceptional Learning Experience at Coto Academy

Coto Academy has been an incredible experience from start to finish, and I couldn't be happier with my time there.

Outstanding Teachers
The teachers at Coto Academy are truly exceptional. They are highly motivated, experienced, and professional, and they put in so much effort to ensure their students succeed. One of the things I appreciated the most was the variety of teaching styles, which made every lesson engaging and unique. Special thanks to Tanaka-sensei, Imahori-sensei, Audren-sensei, Locke-sensei, and many others who made my learning journey so memorable.

Modern and Effective Classes
The classes are designed with modern tools and digital support, making the learning process smoother and more efficient.

Small Class Sizes
The small class sizes were another highlight for me. They allowed for more interaction with the teachers and classmates, creating an ideal environment for participation and deeper learning.

The first trial class I took was good, just a few students, and the teacher seemed competent.

One thing I don't quite understand though is the initial workflow:
- Free online consultation, lasted around 30mn, it was OK
- Trial lessons, 2 hours, full price, 6400 yens, which is quite a lot for a "trial"
- I was happy with the lessons, so I went for a subscription, all good, except the registration fee is 10000 yens, and it's done via a google form, definitely not OK, and you have to pay if you want a paper version of the book used in the class.

Sold out now since classes limited to 8 students. Not sure why no 1 ranked. Many other schools good too like kai,Ala, Nichibei. Good system though with 6 beginner level classes etc. not so cheap at ¥137,000 per month

It’s hard to realize how much you’re learning in the moment! I’ve been out of Japan for a few years now, but I recently realized I’ve still retained so many useful grammar points thanks to the way they taught their classes. Would highly recommend 🙂

I read great reviews of Coto Japanese Academy and took a 4 week intensive course there as a result. They lived up to their reviews! The most important element of a language school is the teachers. They were all great. Committed, compassionate, energetic, experienced, friendly and professional. Other students I ran into had been to other Japanese language schools, and they all agreed that Coto was the best.

Coto Shibuya is an amazing school with outstanding teachers. The crash course is a great way to learn the language and also learn about the Japanese culture - with weekly language immerse excursions. I am really enjoyed my time at Coto and have met some great people throughout my classes! Highly recommend!

Some teachers are really competent, and the course structures and classrooms are nice. However, there's nothing particularly special or exceptional beyond that. I'm surprised to see so many 5-star reviews, but I respect people's opinions. I'm not very fond of the support provided at the reception desk; the attitude after your enrollment is completely different from when you visit to join the academy.
