Im currently in contract with Coastal to design and build an addition. The design portion went ok, not the best with timelines and communications, but we got through it in 3months after additional permits were required.
But the construction portion through the GC arm of coastal engineering (Costal Synergy Construction) has been painfully slow. Very slow on startup and not very coordinated with their subs. I was going to not use them and had a final meeting where they promised that they can deliver the project in 6weeks. I made a schedule from our meeting that they agreed to, with construction starting in less than 2weeks. But it has been 3weeks and they haven’t even started. This is not looking good, i will update as things progresses (or not). I hope i am wrong and will correct myself.

I would give zero stars if I could. The Town of Nags Head needed a certified letter for my deck and some framing underneath my "beach box". This is a 1,200 sq. ft. home, all exterior work - very small job. After receiving a smattering of pictures via email, then finding out Coastal Engineering contacted the town inspector directly without going through me, I received a call from Coastal's President, Carlos, stating there were serious concerns and that more time (and therefore money) would be needed before a letter could be provided. I requested a list of issues so that I could remedy his concerns, but that list never showed up. After contacting a second engineering firm who visited my home, found no issues whatsoever, and produced the certified letter within 24 hours, I received an invoice from Coastal. There was nothing wrong with my home and Coastal Engineering seems to be running a con on its customers, charging several hundred dollars for a junion employee to go take pictures of a site with no intention of ever producing certifications. I guess they can stay in business forever with this model, but it's awful for the public. They are not BBB accredited for a reason.

Jalene in the office was beyond professional and accommodating. Jay, our field technicians was so wonderful!. He does not normally do the actual survey, but when circumstances created a delay for us he jumped right in to get our job done. Beyond happy to recommend this company.
