I don't know what the BBB does anymore. But they definitely does not work things out with companies. They just close your complaint when the business doesn't even answer the original question. Don't waste your time. They don't do anything.

The Better Business Bureau in Reno sucks. My complaints against businesses who belong to the BBB routinely get treated more in favor of the business than businesses that don't belong to the BBB. And, those businesses that don't belong to the BBB, the BBB offers to give them more favorable treatment of a complaint if the business does join the BBB, or my previous complaint just disappears off the BBB website when a business later joins the BBB. It's shady behaviors like that to the consumer, that contributes to the rise of social media review sites of businesses.

I had the worst car repair experience ever in my life (40 years driving) at this AMMCO at 2071 S. Rainbow Blvd. Las Vegas, NV 89146. I left my BMW 530i for a transmission oil leak check and I also gave the manager (Mike Short) a copy of my car repair extended warranty, just in case he needed it. I told him that I just wanted to pay no more than $100 deductible, if it needed any repair. He said “don’t worry. I dealt with this warranty company before.”
I called him back the next day and he said the car didn’t have any oil leak, but the transmission “didn’t shift right.” He said the warranty company only covered most of it and I had to pay the difference about a thousand dollars. I told him, as I emphasized the day before, that I just wanted to pay no more than $100 deductible, if it needed any repair. I told him I wanted my car back without any repair. He said it was too late he already took the transmission apart and could not put it back! I finally agreed to pay him $1,000 for the repair. He said it would take about 1 week. After one week, I kept calling to check on the status of the repair and he kept giving me promise after promise.
After three weeks, the car was finally done. I noticed my car paint was a mess with scratches all over the hood and on the trunk. Some sloppy mechanic must have wiped off my car paint with dirty/ sandy cloth. Worst of all, the trunk and the rear bumper had a very big dent. I told the manager that my car was spotless without any dent before, even on the doors, and now it had a big dent. He argued that it was there before. I told him, if he noticed that, why he didn’t take a picture when he received the car. He finally agreed to pay ½ of the dent repair. I paid him $1,000 for the transmission repair and took my car to two body shops he referenced. One shop agreed to repair without any receipt for $900. The other shop ,looked more professional, agreed to repair for $950 with receipt. I called Mike and told him that I felt more confident with the place that could give me a receipt and they looked more professional. He said that was up to me. After the repair I gave Mike a copy of the receipt for $950. He cut me short by giving me the check for only $450 and told me that he agreed to $900 repair.
This shop is not professional and the manager is a liar and a scammer. I learned my lesson the hard way. If you have a nice car, take pictures of the condition of your car before the repair. This place is going to trash your car. My car was abused for 3 weeks in a row under the record hot sun of 21 days above 105 degrees in Las Vegas. They pushed/ moved my car in and out the shop to have more space for other car repair and caused a big dent on the trunk and bumper of my car and didn’t even want to pay for my dent and paint repair!

Before I filed a claim with the BBB I really didn’t know what they did. Since they abruptly closed my claim with no resolution, I still don’t know what they do. I also wonder whose interest they serve - consumers or businesses. A very disappointing experience.
