I am leaving this initial five star review for the president, James Burns. I always read the negative reviews first to observe how the person in charge responds. And in this case, Mr. Burns provided a very thorough, experienced and highly detailed response to each one showing that his assistance and his operation is most definitely not a scam – quite the opposite. It is because of his thoughtful responses that I signed a contract without reservation today to go along with my future tax reduction efforts. I look forward to working with this company.

One year after buying our home, we received an assessment that literally doubled our property taxes. I started researching appeals and found Aventine, and signed up based on how simple and easy they made the process. Our review was ultimately denied and we received no reduction at all. I have no clarity on whether doubling our taxes was "fair" and whether I did everything I should've, which is why I regret using Aventine.

After signing up, I didn't hear anything for a while. Had I not wondered "what happened to our appeal?" and logged in, I would not have seen that photos were due and needed to be uploaded. The BAR decision was denied due to insufficient supporting data. I still don't know if that means I uploaded the bad photos, or photos of the wrong things, or not enough, or if Aventine never included them, or what. The seemed to be no human oversight, no one making recommendations, no one reaching out when my case needed attention, and no explanations beyond form emails. I strongly agree with the reviews saying it's better to file yourself.

Aventine kept its promise. I expected failure because we live in a neighborhood becoming extremely religious with many people converting homes to tax-free 'Prayer Houses' around the area. I expected the town to be too desperate for revenue. The savings in just the first year amounts to more than we carry around. To be honest, if I was setting out to do this as a business, I would charge 100% of the first year's savings, not just 50% plus incidental, unavoidable government fees. Aventine is well worth it. You won't know what to do or how to do it. The time, effort and uncertainty for you to try to beat them out of their very reasonable fee is simply the wrong choice. Just say 'Yes' and pay them less than they save you. Remember, you come out way ahead in the very first year AND then again and again, year after year.

Two years ago I received a letter from Aventine Properties LLC Stating that would be wise to make an appeal to the City of Mount Vernon to reduce my taxes.
So after a few days of thought I filled up the application and send it bak to them.
What I can say about Aventine Properties is that they never quit. They will take what is needed to make sure the client gets what is fare from the taxe assessor department. They take their knowledge and experience to bring some justice to their clients.

It’s ok but to be honest I’m not that happy. They saved me $420 on a tax bill over $13000. Then ok I have to pay half which I would assume is $210. But wait there’s a court filing fee, an appraisal fee and a fee to use your credit card of 3%. So at the end of the day I have to pay $325? Wow they saved me $95? Big deal…
