Long story short, they are a pointless middleman and you can save thousands of dollars by investing yourself. Find a reliable mutual fund company and send your money straight to them. These financial advisors will just cost you tons of unnecessary dollars.

When I first started to learn about investing I called Poulsen Financial Group because they were a "Dave Ramsey Endorsed Local Provider." We had a meeting and they helped me set up a profile in a mutual funds company. For this they charged me more than 5% of the money I had to invest. I had no knowledge of investing so I thought this was acceptable. After this initial meeting I had very little contact with them again. It turns out that the mutual fund company manages my account for me, so Poulsen Financial Group really has nothing to do. They didn't do anything that a normal person couldn't do. They're just a middleman. I could have easily made my own account and deposited my money myself into whatever mutual funds I wanted and saved myself hundreds of dollars. To this day I haven't heard anything from Poulsen Financial Group, which is fine with me. I don't need them. Now I save thousands of dollars by investing money directly instead of using a financial advisor. Even though they charged me a lot of money, I did make my money back in the long run and I like the company that they used for my mutual fund profile. I just wished that I had done everything myself and saved hundreds of dollars which would be thousands by now.

Save yourself thousands of dollars and do a little of your own research on how investing works. All you need is to find one reliable person that can teach you the basics. It's not as hard as you think.
