I had been putting off applying for Medicaid for a very long time. The process in NJ seemed daunting. We are originally from NY. When my mom moved to a memory care facility I had no choice but to apply. The spend down was going to be met within a few months and I needed to act. I was still struggling whether to keep my mom in NJ or move back to NY because the facility has many challenges and couldn’t make up my mind to pull the trigger. I had hired a geriatric specialist because of the situation and needed some guidance. The geriatric manager helped to search for a Medicaid service and she gave me two Google results. The first one I called but they didn’t have good reviews. The second one was Callahan. I was comforted by their reviews and called them right away. I spoke to Geraldine about my fork on the road situation to go back to NY or stay and she shared she could also help with NY application if it came to it. I really felt Geraldine was honest and professional from our first conversation. I signed the contract and we were on our way. Her staff, Darlene and Lorianny soon contacted me with next steps. I started collecting all the paper work and submitted little by little. Darlene and Lorianny answered my questions, contacted me to make sure I didn’t miss their messages and I met the deadline to get everything submitted. We didn’t hear back from the Medicaid office and it made me very nervous but Darlene kept me up to date on follow up calls. Finally they heard back and to my surprise it was approved quickly. It was the right decision to hire Geraldine and her team. They have followed up with me after the approval, making sure I understand next steps, that I receive the Medicaid and HMO cards, that I have follow up numbers to contact offices for corrections, etc. I couldn’t be more grateful. The Medicaid process is truly daunting in NJ and I was overwhelmed with my mom’s care and all the administrative work that comes with it. I will be in touch with Geraldine and her team with any questions in the future and would be more than happy to recommend their services to anyone looking for help. I began the Medicaid application process for my mother on my own. The further into the process the more cumbersome the application process became.
I was informed by a nursing home that they typically contract this process out. When investigating , talking with, and pricing some agencies that handle Medicaid applications, I was enlightened to the cost.
I finally performed a Google search and contacted Callahan Financial. We set an appointment to meet with Geraldine Callahan and thankfully we agreed to a price and signed a contract.
Geraldine and her team are very professional, helpful and supportive. I recently was informed that my mother has been accepted and enrolled in Medicaid. Even after my mom has been accepted , the Callahan team is still assisting me with answers to questions and any other matters of concern.
In the end the best move I made was contacting Geraldine Callahan and hiring them for assistance.

My mothers Medicaid application was very unique and going into the process you can’t predict how time consuming it would be. Taking on my mothers case was probably one of the hardest applications the staff has probably ever seen. The staff is exceptional especially Vicki who I feel did an amazing job communicating what needed to be done and how to go about using the portal. It was extremely easy and she always provided feedback if any changes needed to be done in a timely manner. I cannot express how unbelievably happy and grateful for Mrs.Callahan who never gave up on me or my mother. it’s a very rare trait these days for people to not give up when something gets challenging.
