He was so thorough when doing our initial home mold inspection, and it became the template and benchmark that guided our entire mold removal process. He was a resource throughout, taking his time with us, answering all questions, giving us all kind of information to help us navigate the process. He came back after our remediation for a clearance inspection, and was very generous with his time and information then too, advising us on what materials would be best to use for reconstruction, and guiding our plans for mold prevention. What a relief! My girlfriend and I suspected that mold was growing/spreading somewhere in our apartment, but were not well-versed enough in the subject to make any firm declarations. After she spoke with and/or researched approximately a dozen different companies, she felt strongly that HNST Mold Inspections & Environmental Testing was the right choice to bring in and help us. She told me about the phone conversation she had with John, and how helpful and informed he was about our situation. After speaking to him myself, I was also certain that he could help. Setting up a date for him to come and inspect the apartment was super easy and non-invasive, as he was available on the first day (a week later) that we could meet.

Upon arrival, we immediately knew that we called the right person. His knowledge of mold and other airborne particles is second to none, and his explanations for everything were incredibly easy to understand. He explained everything in layman's terms for me (a person with very little time spent learning about mold issues) and delved deeper into the science and statistics with my girlfriend (a person who has learned a LOT about mold over her life). He had multiple gadgets which helped to show us current problem areas and even places where future issues could spring up, and took his time investigating any and all areas of the apartment.

Not once did John try to pressure us into paying for tests of any kind, which was important, as these tests can be expensive and overkill. He was respectful of the apartment and us, and took many pictures of the space for an after-inspection report. After John left, we felt very good about the meeting and inspection.

Upon receiving his after-inspection report, we knew with absolute certainty that we had made the right decision. The report was extensive and thorough. John gave us a report consisting of his findings using the pictures and readings he gathered during his search of the apartment. He also sent a potential remediation plan, which we will be following completely! John also gave us his cell phone number and told us to reach out with any questions or comments during the remediation.

I cannot stress enough just how helpful and informative John Skelly of HNST Mold Inspections & Environmental Testing was and is to this day. I would recommend his business to anyone and everyone who suspects they may have a mold or other environmental issue in their home/apartment. We may end up having him come in again at a later date, just to get piece of mind after the remediation.

I don’t know where to begin as John exceeded all expectations. He found the issue to our problems by performing a thorough inspection. Was here over 5h and found the culprit (hvac) and other minor issues .
I have had other little things here and there and he has always communicated with me via phone calls and texts after his job was completed. He has helped my family navigate these issue successfully and months and months later still assists me by educating me on best practices to clean mold. During our bathroom / kitchen remodel he was in Ireland on vacation and still texted me back with his thoughts

Thank you to John for coming to my home in NJ for a thorough evaluation of our home. Though there were no major water events, I was concerned about potential mold in the house, and John's thorough inspection gave me the peace of mind I needed. John is one of of handful of inspectors who understands and can execute an inspection for the highly sensitive population but can also perform assessments catered to any degree of mold sensitivity. He is active and eager to continue learning and is continually refining his craft to provide the best assessments for his clients. His prices are fair and well aligned with his inspection process, field experience and education; though I would gladly pay more for the level of inspection he offers because his thoroughness and curiosity to find everything for his clients is priceless.
