Having had a Crohn's diagnosis at the age of 12 and now being 54 I have seen many Dr's over the years.. Dr Hanauer knows his stuff as they say.. He made me feel heard, and I left the office with a sense of HOPE.. my case is complex and I feel so relieved knowing he is now helping me get my disease under control.. Appreciate the entire Northwestern team downtown there who helped me as well..

Dr. Hanauer is AMAZING!!! We saw him today for a very complex situation for a family member. He is kind, professional, filled with good information that he is willing to share and an excellent doctor. I can't say enough good things about him. Every review you read about Dr. Hanauer is spot on. Nobody better. Combines best-in-the-world technical knowledge with outstanding communication and empathy. First saw him 11 years ago and in one office visit he resolved a problem with my J-pouch surgery that my local GI doctor missed despite a battery of expensive tests. He has managed my pouch care ever since.It's almost a full day getting to Chicago to see him but it is a day well spent. If you are struggling with an unresolved GI issue, you can't do any better than Dr. Hanauer.

My husband saw Dr Hanauer after struggling with a bad diagnosis for 30 years. After he examined my husband, he was diagnosed with Crohn’s. He changed his medication and suggested a therapy. After following the therapy, it was almost like a miracle. We thank God and this great doctor. Dr. Hanauer has a great bedside manner. He is kind, professional, compassionate, and caring. He spent time talking to us explaining the disease and took all our questions with patience. We can not thank him enough. He is indeed a great doctor and a wonderful person. We highly recommend him to other patients.

I’ve been seeing Dr Hanauer since 1998 after suffering with Crohns for over 15 years on prednisone and changing doctors several times. In less than 2 years, Dr Hanauer had me off the prednisone and into remission for the past 20 years. He is amazing and one of the nicest doctors I’ve ever met. Highly recommended!

My daughter was in terrible shape. She was 40lbs under weight (80lbs) when we had our first appointment with Dr. Hanauer in July 2020. Four months later, she is back to her goal weight (120 lbs) and doing much better. The problem was her old crohn's medicine stopped working a year ago and her former doctor didn't know what to do at that point. Thank you for caring for my daughter during these stressful times.
