Kathryne Reed is amazing! She has practical, effective organization ideas that are easy to put into practice. We had our kitchen remodeled, and I needed help unpacking and organizing once construction was completed. Amazing service & highly recommended. I watched shows on TV and found my own magical pro to get my cabinets and stuff in order. Kathryn is a jewel, she brought order to my home life, she responded quickly to my request to organize and declutter and taught me the methods to become simply more optimized! I'm one happy career mom 🙂 The whole house feels better.

I cannot say enough about Kathryne. Why didn't I use her sooner I struggle with clutter. Paper is the bane of my existence. It has been a problem probably my whole life, and the older I get, the harder it is to get out of. I would have spurts of being able to get some stuff done on my own, but it wouldn't be too long before everything was back to where it was, and worse!

Then I had a baby. Forget being able to do anything about the clutter in my "free" time! I had a computer room full of boxes and paper and "stuff". Our daughter was almost a year and a half, and still sleeping in our room. We had a guest room, which was often used by family members. We wanted to put our daughter in her own room, but couldn't until we moved the bed from the guest room to the computer room. We couldn't do that until we got rid of a gigantic corner desk, and we couldn't do THAT until we dealt with the boxes and paper and clutter.

I found a home for the desk and was trying for months on my own to get to a point where I could get rid of enough stuff to get it out and to its new home. I was getting nowhere. Then I found Kathryne of Simply Optimized in a mommy group. And my life changed. I know that sounds dramatic. But seriously, I never even knew that something like a professional organizer existed for the lay person. I thought you had to be rich or part of a tv show to have access to something like that!

At first I was hesitant. I reached out to find more about what she offers. She will do a consultantation where she visits the area you want to address and talks to you about what you want to accomplish. She charges appointment by appointment, so you can set up one session, see how it goes and stop there if you want. You are under no obligation to do more, ever. It's all about what you want and what your needs are. She schedules 3-4 hour sessions. I believe we did one session every week or two, so that you don't get too burnt out because it can be mentally taxing.

She doesn't judge; she's seen it all. I had boxes and bags of mail from two moves ago! Some paperwork that I hadn't seen in over a decade. I remember being embarrassed about something and "hid" it so she wouldn't make me get rid of it or put it somewhere I didn't want to put it. My gosh, that was so silly of me! Do you know that I still can't find what I "hid", but everything she helped me with I can find just fine Don't do that - let her help you. She really doesn't judge!!

The first session there are a lot of questions about what you want to do with things as she goes through stuff, so she can learn what you need. That first session is probably the most mentally taxing because there's so many decisions to make. But the beauty of it is that after she learns what you want done with certain things, she can do that for you and only give you or ask you about the stuff she doesn't know yet. Think about it, even if it's an easy decision, every single piece of paper you touch is a decision to be made. It's draining. Having her there takes away a ton of small decisions that you don't have to make. She doesn't have personal attachment to your stuff. It's not draining for her. You want to save gas receipts for the last 3 years, but not longer, she can do that. You know you want to keep all correspondence with this doctor, but toss all mail from this company, and yet need to physically look at items from this entity to make the decision yourself, she can do. She'll create piles, she'll throw items out, or put in a recycle box, and the ones that you personally need to determine, she will put in the box of what you are going through. She's amazing.

Best thing is that she leaves time at the end of each session to clean up. So that in between sessions, you don't feel overwhelmed with piles of clutter. Whatever's left is put away and labeled, so you can look around you and breathe.

Right before COVID hit, we accomplished my goal of getting the gigantic desk out of my computer room, put the bed in the computer room, and the crib in the guest room so that it's now our daughter's room!
