Derek and I started working together in August 2020. We were in the middle of a global pandemic, I had a newborn at home, and I was working long hours. My workout routine was broken and my nutritional habits were at a new low. I was 15-20 pounds overweight and didn’t feel healthy.

Working out with Derek was great. He understood what I was trying to achieve and created a customized fitness and nutrition plan to get me there. He even helped me build out my home gym. The workouts were fun, challenging and always changing. Unfortunately, I hit a couple speed bumps along the way – I got COVID in January 2021 and had a wrist injury in early March 2021 – but Derek adapted the program accordingly and really helped me stay accountable and motivated throughout. He was always accessible when I needed his support and guidance. Despite these two setbacks, I was still able to see major results and finish the program much healthier, motivated and confident than I began.

Derek helped me get back on track and establish a stronger foundation, both in terms of fitness and nutrition, that I’m confident I can build upon moving forward. He caught me at a real low point and helped build me back up even stronger. Thank you!

Stumbling upon Derek was a stroke of unbelievable luck. I had reached a point where my health was secondary to everything else, and not integrated into my daily life. I was insecure and marinated in bad habits. Working with Derek facilitated meaningful changes in my fitness and general health (I went from never having run before to doing a half marathon within 6 months!) but more importantly, he built up my confidence and empowered me to enjoy the process. No guilt, no shame. Just encouragement, kindness, and inspiration. You will not find a more well informed, gracious, and loving trainer/coach.

Derek facilitated fitness classes as well as workshops in developing healthy habits, better sleep, and maximizing nutrition. My experience participating in a LifeUP Healthy Habits Challenge was very gratifying! I began my journey with Derek on June 12, 2023. Derek was always accessible and provided the encouragement and motivation I needed to accomplish my target weight (and then some) during the 6 week Challenge.

Through the Challenge, I learned I didn’t have to completely give up the foods I wanted (sweets), I just learned to do it in moderation. It was more like breaking a bad habit. Now I don’t even “have” to have the one. Regarding the exercising, the program pushed me to make this an everyday habit, which I am still doing today. l enjoyed the workouts and informative videos that were shared. I loved the nutritional component! You are not asked to track every calorie like most programs. Learning to be more mindful of what I ate, made me more aware of what I was eating.

This program is for everyone! Whether you need motivation to lose weight, tone up or to learn to eat healthier foods, Derek will instill the confidence you need to make those life changes! He certainly did for me!!!
